Our Story

The Centre for Youth Advisory and Counselling (CYA&C) is a first of its type, located in Gilgit Baltistan’s first and largest university, Karakorum International University (KIU). Youth, as assets and stakeholders, can contribute to the university and society as a whole, but in order to do so as leaders and changemakers, they require skills and training that go beyond academics. With this in mind, the all-encompassing Center was founded and funded by Polaris LLP under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment, a dynamic and well-rounded organization, to provide context-specific counseling, programmes, and resources to ensure that youth shape the future of Gilgit Baltistan proactively.

POLARIS SYSTEMS LLC launched the Center for Youth Advisory and Counseling (CYA&C) to concentrate on Youth development via research and practical intervention. The facility also offers group and individual therapy, as well as a variety of youth-focused programmes. Polaris Systems is one of Pakistan’s most renowned and reputable corporate entities, with an experienced team of professionals in many sectors delivering committed services in a variety of domains. POLARIS combines the power of resourceful individuals to generate synergy in a fruitful effort, helping to reflect and grasp matters by connecting dots and making sense of all the possible solutions to the most complex problems, with a seasoned team including researchers, analysts, lawyers, security specialists, seasoned civil servants, media professionals, and experts in training and learning.

Under the supervision of CE Sabbahuddin CYA&C began full operation in 2021 and will continue to assist Gilgit Baltistan’s students and youth and provides resources, opportunities, and support to assist adolescents in developing the skills, education, and attitude necessary to be productive members of society. In a context like Gilgit Baltistan, with its wide complexity and potential, it is critical to guarantee that society’s most valuable asset, youth and students, receive equitable support and direction to prosper in both personal and professional areas of their lives.

Vision

The specially designed Counselling Center founded & funded by Polaris Systems LLP and run in collaboration with Karakoram International University, is envisioned as the regional center for excellence for youth support. While Polaris works with a diverse range of educational partners, the initiative directed in the remote region of Gilgit-Baltistan is an aspiration to rise to the challenge of bringing marginalized youth at par with the national spectrum in terms of opportunities besides addressing a broad spectrum of social issues faced by the youth in the area.

Polaris Systems LLP, in line with its holistic turn-key approach and its aspiration to serve national causes, focuses on harnessing the positive potential of the youth to promote not only their careers and personal development but also counter negative influences and views that are detrimental to the development and prone to conflict. Hence, the center exhibits its dynamic functionality through all of its services as well as the various programs & conferences that it generates from time to time.

Scope and Operations

The programme is a two-pronged project that focuses on work opportunities for students and professionals linked with the centre and the Karakoram International University, as well as psychological counselling for persons suffering from a variety of conditions. As a result, the centre is the region’s one-of-a-kind mental health support unit, based within educational institutions and catering to students and youth with challenges. The centre at the heart of Karakoram International University has a Polaris team of skilled psychologists, career counsellors, and trainers that give tailored feedback and opportunities for both the university and students through industry and government collaborations.

To establish synergy in the endeavour, the centre is forming relationships with local corporations, Nonprofits, and government entities. The centre has also given placement opportunities to a large number of students, and also serving as a youth channel into the labour market, while organising national-level conferences, debates, and seminars on harmony, coexistence, peace, development, and national vision. The centre is intended to be spread and replicated by a wide variety of Polaris Partners around the country, including a number of top-tier colleges and educational institutions.
